Juventus vs Manchester City Predictions
Score predictions: Juventus 1-2 Man City
One of our best soccer predictions this week is for Manchester City to defeat Juventus and top Group G on their way to the Round of 16. Both teams have got the easier games out of the way. They passed those tests with flying colours, winning both and scoring 17 goals between them. They are both treating this tournament with added care following disappointing league campaigns, meaning this will be a competitive game. However, Pep Guardiola’s City team still carry a level of class that many teams fear, even with a poor season behind them. Their talent, depth and experience should see them through here.
Manchester City remain one of Europe’s most complete sides. They dominate possession, suffocate opponents with their pressing, and have match-winners all over the pitch. Their fullbacks tuck inside to support the midfield, giving their wingers the freedom to stretch the pitch. When City turn on the tempo, they can overwhelm teams with their movement and fluidity. Against a Juve side likely to sit deep and absorb pressure, City will patiently probe for openings, often drawing defenders out before playing the killer pass.
Their inability to score or see games out when they did marred Juve’s Serie A season. Despite going unbeaten in 21 league games between August and late January, Le Zebre won just eight and drew 13 in that run. Their form in Europe was similar, scoring just nine goals and failing to find the net in games where they were favourites. That saw Thiago Motta replaced by Igor Tudor in March.
This is where the disparity between Juve and City lies. The Manchester-based team had an inconsistent season, but still managed to finish third in the table and was the second-highest scorer in the league. Their issues seemed to be less tactical, like Juve’s, and more down to personnel: underperforming stars and an ageing squad. However, they have arguably the best number nine in the world, supported by a team full of firepower. The Norwegian scored 22 goals in the league. The likes of Phil Foden and January signing Omar Marmoush added important numbers.
Le Zebre do not have a standout centre forward like Haaland. Dusan Vlahovic was their top scorer in the league with just 10 goals. Kenan Yildiz is a great young talent, but not at the level of Foden and Marmoush. Randall Kolo Muani is not an out-and-out number nine and cannot be relied on for goals. Tudor has begun to reshape this Juve side. They look far stronger in attack than previously, but the remnants of Motta’s regime are still there to see.Â
City are excellent at breaking teams down, and Pep can set up his side to pierce Juve’s defence. Juve are simply not good enough going forward against elite-level competition to have an answer if and when they do.
We expect Juventus to make this a cagey contest early on, but City’s relentless control and superior quality should eventually break them down. Haaland’s movement and physicality will stretch Juve’s centre-backs. With Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva pulling strings, the hosts should find a way through. Juventus will make them work for it, but City’s class and tactical precision should see them through.
Players to Watch
- Kenan Yildiz (Forward, Juventus): Kenan Yildiz is emerging as one of Juventus’s most dynamic young attackers. The 19-year-old brings flair, balance, and a touch of unpredictability to an otherwise structured Juventus frontline. Operating either as a second striker or an advanced midfielder, Yildiz has a knack for drifting into pockets of space and punishing defenders who give him time on the ball. His ability to carry possession forward and strike from range gives Juve an edge in tight matches where chances are limited. Against a team like Manchester City, who commit numbers forward, his transitional threat becomes even more valuable.
- Ilkay Gundogan (Midfielder, Man City): Ilkay Gundogan had an underwhelming season but has come to life in the Club World Cup so far. The German international scored twice in the 6-0 thrashing of Al Ain and was on point with his passing. That will be integral against Juventus. Italian sides are known for their astute defending, and Le Zebre will be tough to break down. Gundogan’s creativity, line-breaking passes and long-range shooting will cut through their defence. The German international thrives in high-pressure games, offering composure in tight areas and sharp movement that keeps opponents guessing.

A bet on City to reach the Club World Cup final is priced at 2/1 for anyone betting on the Club World Cup and looks a solid long-term play for football punters.
Juventus vs Manchester City Head-To-Head and Key Stats
Manchester City suffered a frustrating 2-0 defeat to Juventus in Turin when they last met in December 2024. Despite dominating possession and territory, Pep Guardiola’s side couldn’t break down a compact Juve defence in the Champions League Clash. City had early chances, with Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gindoğan both denied by outstanding saves from Michele Di Gregorio.
Juventus, content to sit deep and counter, struck first on 54 minutes. Dusan Vlahovic headed home from close range after a Kenan Yildiz cross. Juve sealed the win with 15 minutes to play as substitutes Timothy Weah and Weston McKennie combined on the break. The latter acrobatically volleyed home the second. City created plenty of openings but couldn’t convert and were left feeling aggrieved after a 2-0 loss in which they dominated possession.
Manchester City stormed into the FIFA Club World Cup knockout stages with a dominant 6-0 win over Al Ain in Atlanta last week. Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring with a clever chip inside eight minutes before Claudio Echeverri curled home a stunning free-kick to double the lead. Erling Haaland added a third from the penalty spot just before half-time.
City remained in control after the break and added three more goals. Gundogan grabbed his second of the night from a smart Bernardo Silva pass, Oscar Bobb netted a composed finish, and Rayan Cherki capped off the performance with his first goal for the Club. Despite a few chances for Al Ain, Stefan Ortega Moreno stood firm, and City’s attacking quality proved far too much for the Emirati side. The win secures City’s progression from Group G with a game to spare.
Kenan Yildiz scored two goals and forced an early own goal as Juventus cruised to a 4-1 win over Wydad in the Club World Cup. Juve struck early as Yildiz’s angled shot deflected off defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil for an own goal in the 6th minute. The 20-year-old added a second ten minutes later, unleashing a rocket into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Wydad responded through Thembinkosi Lorch after capitalising on a defensive mistake, briefly igniting hope. However, Juventus dominated in the second half. Yildiz netted his second with a composed finish after good work from Kolo Muani. Dusan Vlahovic added a stoppage-time penalty to seal an emphatic victory.
