Our first glimpse of Bournemouth in front of the Sky cameras saw Andoni Iraola’s men fail to impose themselves as they were beaten 2-0 by Tottenham Hotspur.
Iraola was described as the master of chaos, but his Bournemouth side have looked tactically flexible and have, at times, lacked the intense press we saw at Rayo Vallecano.
This looks like a tough game for Chelsea, but then again, so does every game. They were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest before the international break and have recorded one win this season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side has shown glimpses of quality, but they aren’t taking their chances and they look a long way from a finished product, often surrendering possession due to errors.
You would think that would play into Bournemouth’s hands and this looks like the perfect opportunity for Iraola to employ the most aggressive version of his tactics.
Gallagher and Caicedo were particularly sloppy in midfield against Forest, which eventually led to a goal, and they’ve looked awful when defending corners, free-kicks and even throw-ins.
We’ve also seen a high press pay dividends against the Blues with Luton successfully turning the ball over several times and a clumsy pass from Axel Disasi helped gift West Ham their second.
Teams have been able to produce a high volume of chances relative to their possession, with Forest, Luton and West Ham firing a combined 30 shots despite having 32% or less.
That’s something Bournemouth did well against Liverpool (1-3) and Brentford (2-2) earlier this season, so regardless of how they set up, this looks like a winnable game for the home side.
