Sedgefield Five-Timer!

It was great to get a five-timer at Sedgefield on Thursday. Obviously, I had the rides that I fancied to go well but they don’t always end up that way and thankfully I managed to get a few in. The only horse that didn’t win was Gordon’s Jet but to be honest I couldn’t understand why he was favourite given his form.

I’m now on 69 winners for the season and I’ve not ridden so many winners this early on before and so all I can hope for is that it carries on. If things were to carry on like this then I could be looking at the 200 mark again, but I can’t get too ahead of myself as it’s only ever one injury that can stop that. However, at present it’s a nice position to be in.

Stratford, Saturday

I go to Stratford for just the two rides on Saturday with the first being Geronimo in the 2m3½f handicap chase (1.49pm). He’s been very well placed by his trainer to win three chases so far and he’s actually two-pounds lower than when he won his first chase off 132. It’s only a two-horse race and Pencreek has won his last three and gone up a big chunk in the weights for winning. My horse had a canter round Fontwell the other day over 2m2f and is in good form like most in the yard. I’ll be hopeful.

Obey The Rules is my second and final ride in the 2m1f handicap chase (4.44pm). He won the last day at Market Rasen when I was at another meeting.  He won well that day and it probably wasn’t a bad race as there were a few horses with decent form in it. He obviously needed the comeback run at Worcester but he’s the sort of horse where what you see is what you get, and he’ll always run his race. There’s a couple of progressive ones in the field but hopefully my lad has a good chance. I’d like to hit the 70-winner mark on Saturday with either of these horses.
