However, that seems like a distant memory after the past few weeks. We expect a tight game with the champions giving as good as they get. Three points or fewer will separate the sides at the final whistle.

Leinster have found another gear in recent weeks, even with key defensive issues. Against the Leicester Tigers last week, the Irish province found themselves behind through fantastic individual play from Adam Radwan and Ollie Hassell-Collins. Yet the grit of champions showed in the end as they fought back to win in the second half. A powerful scrum and devastating maul were enough to seal all the points. That is exactly why we are favouring Leinster this Friday. They might not be at their best with sloppy turnovers and individual errors, but when they attack from the set-piece, few teams in world rugby can stop them.

Ulster has been fantastic to watch for most of the season. Not only have they won several games, but even in defeat, they cross the line multiple times to make a game of things. Those are the markings of a competitive side across any division, but in the United Rugby Championship, that makes them a real concern for Leinster. But this is not a team you want to face right now, as the Blues have strung together four consecutive wins in all competitions.

What makes this matchup particularly interesting is that Leinster’s last defeat came at the hands of rivals Munster. This will give hope to Northern Irish fans as there was a key difference in class on the day, even though Munster were the travelling side. They dominated key areas of the pitch, something Ulster will have to imitate if they are to get anything from this game.

These two famous rugby clubs have met countless times over the years. Unsurprisingly, Leinster enters this fixture with the recent advantage, having won the past three meetings. The two most recent matches with Leinster hosting include a 43-20 victory in 2024 and a 41-17 victory in April 2025. The last time Ulster hosted the Blues, they lost by a far tighter margin, 20-27.

Looking at the previous meeting reveals Ulster took the lead with an early penalty.
