Limerick National Hunt Preview

Limerick Racecourse hosts seven action-packed races on Sunday, March 24. Some of the finest runners in Ireland take on visitors from Great Britain and France in the Limerick National Hunt. The first race gets underway at 1.45 PM, and the last event is the only listed contest on the card. €21,000 awaits the winner of the Kevin McManus Bookmaker Champion Flat Race, but there are plenty of other events to enjoy.

The Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at 2.55 PM is the largest race at the Limerick National Hunt. The 16 runners compete for a €11,000 prize pot, which was scooped up by Cafe Con Leche last year. Irish supporters have plenty of chances to land another winner this year, with Zeeband and Mag Dillane looking strong. If you’re wondering who else is running at the Limerick National Hunt this weekend, Novibet has you covered for all seven races!

Limerick National Hunt Runners

Greenmount Park is renowned for being an ever-changing course. The ground is heavy on Sunday, so factor this into your selections. Two steep inclines await the runners, with a challenging climb on the latter half of the track heading towards a thrilling downhill slope before the final straight.

The Limerick Racecourse Maiden Hurdle is the opening race. At 1:45 PM, nine runners will battle across 2m 50y for €7,200. The Yellow Clay was the winner in a ten-horse field last year. Plus Gordon Elliott looks to win back-to-back Maiden Hurdles with Brennus Lescribaa, but who else is running?

Limerick National Hunt Predictions

The Limerick National Hunt has seven races to choose from this weekend. At Novibet, we provide high-quality horse racing predictions weekly. This week, we’re focusing on Greenmount Park and have plenty of predictions for you to analyse before placing your bets.

(13:45) Race 1 Predictions

13:45 Limerick National Hunt Prediction: Lazer Wolf

The Limerick National Hunt opener has plenty of chances to land an Irish winner. We predict Lazer Wolf will win. Gavin Cromwell’s runner hasn’t landed its maiden win yet but is slowly improving based on its previous races. They priced Lazer Wolf at 4/1 at Naas last month and he came second behind American Money. The Bay Gelding has good stamina and came second on heavy ground at Fairyhouse in early February.

Brennus Lescribaa was a beaten favourite recently, and we don’t fancy Gordon Elliott’s runner this weekend. The French horse is inconsistent but had two decent runs in November. At Naas, Brennus Lescribaa came seventh and weakened towards the end. If Whimsy can avoid mistakes over the hurdles, Anthony McCann’s runner could be an each-way option. The horse keeps well on the final straight and enjoys heavy ground, which suits the conditions on Sunday.

(14:20) Race 2 Predictions

14:20 Limerick National Hunt Prediction: Silent Approach

Our pick for the 14:20 at Limerick is Silent Approach. Making their debut at Limerick, we believe C O’Keeffe’s runner is a strong contender this weekend. Silent Approach won at Gowran Park over a longer distance and on heavy ground. They’ve also recorded two wins in chases, so navigating the hurdles at Limerick shouldn’t be an issue. A messy race at Naas hindered the horse, but we believe they’ll bounce back this weekend.

Many runners are comfortable over the 2m distance in this race. However, we’re going with Splashing Out as an each-way bet. A course and distance winner who placed in the top two in its last two runs is hard to ignore. Eoin Griffin’s horse struggled to a 16th-place finish at Leopardstown in their latest race but was in excellent form before that run.

(14:55) Race 3 Predictions

14:55 Limerick National Hunt Prediction: Zeeband

€6,490 awaits the winner of the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle, and we feel Zeeband is good enough to win it. It’s Zeeband’s tenth run over hurdles, but jumps have caused issues for Paul John Gilligan’s horse in the past. A 2m6f trip at Navan was too much for Zeeband, who didn’t stay the distance. But a drop back down to 2m is perfect.

Spavango has only raced three times but is a solid each-way option. The novice will go undetected by many punters, but the horse has shown potential in its latest runs. Spavango has raced exclusively over 2m with two appearances at Limerick. Richard Deegan rode a seventh-place finish at Limerick in a 14-horse field earlier this year. Spavango could be worth a punt, but keep your bets small.

(15:30) Race 4 Predictions

15:30 Limerick National Hunt Prediction: Gold In The Rivers

The I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle is a tough race to predict. It isn’t a race for the faint-hearted, so looking elsewhere could be a good move. Our selection is Gold In The Rivers. The horse has run twice at Leopardstown and once at Naas. Gold In The Rivers finished in the top five in all three outings, but we see the runner getting their first win at Limerick. The performance at Naas has us a little worried about stamina, but the horse handled 2m4f well at Leopardstown.

Drumgill is searching for their maiden win, and an each-way bet looks good. The horse is ticking over nicely under John Patrick Ryan but might not last the 2m4f trip. As mentioned, this race is the toughest on the card, so be cautious with your wagers.

(16:05) Race 5 Predictions

16:05 Limerick National Hunt Prediction: Hgranca De Thaix

The fifth race at Limerick is competitive, and there are plenty of horses with a chance of winning. We’ve selected a French horse to win the €9,440 prize, with Hgranca De Thaix looking for their second win in Ireland. The runner will have no problem staying the distance, with solid runs over 2m4f. However, the heavy ground isn’t ideal, with Hgranca De Thaix preferring soft. But the French horse finished 4th on heavy ground in a 2m race at Limerick in 2021.

Dancing Jeremy is an option if you’re looking for an each-way bet. The horse finished strongly in its last five races and has plenty of experience to rely on. James Andrew Fahey will be confident in getting a fifth win, but we think an each-way bet is the safest wager. The heavy ground won’t scare Dancing Jeremy, but their latest win came on soft at Thurles.

(16:40) Race 6 Predictions

16:40 Limerick National Hunt Prediction: He Fitz In

At over 3m, the 16:40 at Limerick is the longest race on the card. The distance with the heavy going means you’ll need a durable horse to win this one. We like He Fitz In and predict they’ll win the €6,490 prize this weekend. Like many horses in this race, He Fitz In has its fair share of issues. The Irish runner led at Sligo in 2023 but fell at the last hurdle. Since then, He Fitz In has three 2nd-place finishes and a 4th-place finish in their latest run. The horse ran this distance before and is more than capable of winning on heavy ground.

Starlight Cato is an interesting outsider in this race. The biggest issue for the horse is whether it’ll finish. Starlight Cato has failed to finish four times in its career but came 2nd at 20/1 in Navan last time out. The Irish runner enjoys the 3m trip, but its best run is on softer ground. We like Starlight Cato as an each-way bet.

(17:15) Race 7 Predictions

17:15 Limerick National Hunt Prediction: Lady Of The Locke

Seven horses are debuting in this race, making it another tough one to call. Sermandzarak won its debut race, but only because of a disqualification. The horse finished second, but the winning jockey, Finn Tegetmeier, came in underweight and gave Sermandzarak the win. We don’t see them winning this one and instead believe Lady Of The Locke will get the victory. C Byrnes’s horse won last time out at Thurles over the same 2m distance, and it was heavy ground. With little to go on, Lady Of The Locke seems the safest bet in this race.

Shuttle Diplomacy is untested on heavy ground. However, the French horse won on their debut, beating Wartime Leader by over a length on soft ground. The race runs over 2m, meaning the distance won’t be an issue. We fancy Shuttle Diplomacy as an each-way option in this field.

Limerick National Hunt Betting Tips

When you’re betting on horse racing, you must do your research. It’s always a good idea to check the runners and riders. Depending on which website you use, they will often have a form guide to study. In the guide, you’ll find various notes about the ground, form, and other insights about the horses. Most punters pick a horse they like and place a bet on them to win. However, you can also wager on a top-four finish. Our sportsbook offers more places depending on the number of runners. But when betting each way, your horse doesn’t have to win for you to see a return. Your bet will land as long as it finishes within the designated places.

Horse racing is hard to predict, and the races often have many factors you need to consider. New Novibet customers can receive a welcome bonus upon signing up. Using your bonus funds on the races is another way to reduce the risks. If you’re ready to analyse the races, we’ve supplied betting tips for all the action at Limerick.

(13:45) Race 1 Betting Tips

If you’re betting on a winner in the opening race of the card, look no further than Lazer Wolf. Trained by Gavin Cromwell, the horse has put together steady performances and is developing nicely. The conditions will suit the runner, and we believe Lazer Wolf can get its first win on Sunday.

Our each-way selection is Whimsy. You’ll have to hold your breath over the jumps as they’re prone to mistakes. However, the horse races well on heavy ground and has plenty of stamina to see it home. Innatendue is one of the most experienced horses in the race and is another each-way shout. A poor run at Leopardstown might have knocked their confidence, and they were 25/1 in a tough race. But John C McConnell’s runner came fourth at Cheltenham earlier this year and could’ve placed if it wasn’t for stamina issues.

(14:20) Race 2 Betting Tips

Finding a winner in the 14:20 at Limerick isn’t easy. But our selection is Silent Approach. O’Keeffe won’t want to repeat the performance at Naas, as his horse could find itself at the rear of the field again. However, Silent Approach has no issues jumping, and the ground looks perfectly set for them.

Splashing Out is a good choice if you’re looking for an each-way bet. They’ve won at Limerick and are consistently in the top five finishers. Another each-way option is Kilbarry Saint. The horse has run well in its last three races and loves the heavy ground. Kilbarry Saint had a poor debut at Limerick when going off as a 7/1 shot but still finished 6th out of 14 runners.

(14:55) Race 3 Betting Tips

Fresh off a victory at Leopardstown, we’re backing Zeeband to get back-to-back wins this weekend. The latest win came on soft ground, so they’ll have to adapt to the heavy running at Limerick. However, Zeeband is no stranger to heavy ground and should handle it easily. The horse struggled over 2m6f, but this race is two miles and will suit Paul John Gilligan’s runner.

Spavango will be an outsider, but we predict they’re a worthy each-way bet. The horse is still a novice but is improving with every run, and a top-three place could be on the cards. Mag Dillane is another each-way selection. A course and distance winner comfortable on heavy ground, Mag Dillane will be at the front of the pack and should hold on to a top spot.

(15:30) Race 4 Betting Tips

Gold In The Rivers is the safest option in a race full of uncertainty. Your best opportunity to find a winner is with Gold In The Rivers, although it’s not a sure thing.  Consistency is their best asset, and if Jack Kennedy is onboard, we predict a first win together.

Our each-way pick is Drumgill, but we also like Summer Melody. The horse has spent too long in the stables, but a run at Limerick last year might have removed some of Summer Melody’s rust. They finished last in that race after returning from a 299-day break. Keep your stakes low, but Summer Melody is a decent each-way pick.

(16:05) Race 5 Betting Tips

Race Five at Limerick could go multiple ways, but Hgranca De Thaix should get the job done. A winner at Galway in 2022, the French horse is running well and is worth a bet this weekend. Hgranca De Thaix doesn’t love heavy ground, but the horse has run well before.

Dancing Jeremy is a class act on heavy ground and is a strong contender. However, an each-way punt is the best option. Lets Go Champ is another each-way pick. Henry De Bromhead’s horse has never finished outside the top three, but inactivity worries us. The horse has no issues with the ground or distance. However, Lets Go Champ hasn’t raced this year, so we feel an each-way bet is ideal.

(16:40) Race 6 Betting Tips

He Fitz In is our choice for the penultimate race in Limerick. A mistake at the last hurdle in Punchestown was costly, missing out on first place. However, we see He Fitz In going one better on heavier ground and getting the win. Starlight Cato should be there at the end, but with four DNFs on its record, stick to each-way wagers with this one.

Robinstown has similar issues but won over 2m5f in Limerick last time out. The heavy ground won’t phase the Irish horse, but the distance will be testing. However, we believe Robinstown is a solid each-way selection this weekend.

(17:15) Race 7 Betting Tips

The last race on the card has the biggest prize, offering €20,650 to the winner. It’s a race with many unknown factors, as most of the field are making their debuts. However, we believe Lady Of The Locke is the best choice. Their maiden win on heavy ground was also over 2m. Shuttle Diplomacy will have to prove that it can handle heavy ground, but we feel they’re an option when looking at each-way bets.

Another potential runner-up is Balko D’ange. The French horse came 2nd on its debut but enjoyed the heavy ground and could have won if it wasn’t for a slight mistake on the last. We predict Balko D’ange will get a top-three finish and fancy its chances when betting each way.
