This will be a tough game on the road for Sean Eeveritt’s side.
Munster comes into this game in relatively solid form, sitting in mid-table in the URC standings. Munster’s forward pack will dominate this contest. Edinburgh will struggle to match their physicality at the breakdown and in the set pieces. The Red Army’s strong mauling game is a key weapon. If they can assert dominance early, they can wear down Edinburgh’s defence. Edinburgh, while dangerous with the ball in hand, will need to be disciplined and avoid giving away penalties in kickable range. Their best chance of success may come from spreading the ball wide and exploiting any gaps in Munster’s defence, especially in the back three. However, they will need a solid platform to create quick balls for their backs.
Edinburgh will rely heavily on Ben Muncaster here. The 23-year-old has played impressively this season and is Edinburgh’s leading try scorer having crossed the line five times in the URC. His contributions on both sides of the ball have proven important and the former academy player is becoming a key part of this side. Munster have been strong in defence so far this season. The Scots must find another gear to defeat the Red Army.

Edinburgh’s squad has taken a massive hit during the Six Nations with no fewer than 13 players joining up with Scotland. That has left a void in their team and Sean Everitt’s squad simply do not have the depth to make up for it. Munster will take advantage of a depleted Edinburgh team and storm to victory on Friday. Edinburgh came out strongly in the second half, with Ali Price’s quick pass setting up Mosese Tuipulotu for a powerful try, closing the gap to three points. However, Zebre responded quickly as Tommaso di Bartolomeo crashed over from a maul.
