Newmarket Racecourse Prediction & Betting Tips 30/09/2023

It’s Cambridgeshire Day at Newmarket this Saturday. A full field spread right across the track on the Rowley Mile is one of the best sights of the Flat season, even if it can be a very difficult puzzle for Punters to solve. Alongside the feature race was also have some Group 1 action for the Juveniles and our team have looked through those contests, as well as the Cambridgeshire itself to find some selections for Saturdays action.

Newmarket Racecourse Prediction & Betting Tips 30/09/2023:

1:50 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes

Aablan

There are plenty of exciting 2-year-olds going to post and on paper this looks likely to be a race to follow into 2024. The race has the likes of Frankel and Roaring Lion on its recent roster of winners and there are several runners in this race who hold Group 1 entries, so there is every chance that we will see another star on show. Although it should be said that Godolphin do not have a good record in this race (their last win came in 2004 with Perfectperformance) they look to have a superb chance of making amends for that this year with Aablan. A winner on debut on the July course 2-months ago, he took the step up in grade in his stride when winning the Solario Stakes at Sandown last month. That race has thrown up winners like Kingman, Masar and Too Darn Hot in the last 10-years and Aablan was much the best horse on the day as he stayed on strongly in the closing stages despite racing keenly at times. There is surely more improvement to come as this son of Dubawi steps up in trip and he should relish the climb out of the Newmarket dip in the closing stages on Saturday.

2:25 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes

Relief Rally

There are few more exciting Fillies in training than Relief Rally. Owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, who are better known for their Jumpers than Flat Juveniles, she has been a revelation this season and already has a Weatherby’s Super Sprint and a Lowther Stakes win on her CV. She managed to win at York despite having to switch for racing room in the closing stages and she hit the line so strongly that it would suggest the stiff finish at Newmarket will actually bring out further improvement in her. This is her deepest assignment since finishing 2nd to Crimson Advocate in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, but she has taken her Racing well this season and looks to hold the majority of this field on the balance of her form.

3:00 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes

Vandeek

Elite Status and River Tiber both came up short in the Prix Morny at Deauville last month and there is no obvious reason to think that the form with Vandeek will be reversed. Simon and Ed Crisfords Colt is 3 from 3 in his short career and was easily the best horse on show in the Prix Morny as he readily dispatched the star French filly Ramatuelle. River Tiber did not get the best run through at Deauville, but he shaped like a horse who needs a step up in trip and the better ground at Newmarket is likely to still leave him vulnerable to genuine speed. Elite Status hasn’t quite hit the heights that he promised to in the early part of the season and there is no doubt that Vandeek looks to have progressed past him. As a proven Group 1 performer, he is still fair value to repeat the dose on Saturday.

Epic Poet, Greek Order

There are over 30-runners heading to post and as usual it will require an awful lot of luck in running to find the winner of this race. Without an obvious draw bias, our team have chosen a horse from each side of the draw to ensure that we have a chance on either side of the track. Our first selection is Greek Order. This race has tended to be won by an unexposed type in recent years and when we were looking for the proverbial “Group horse in a handicap” he appealed most. Trained by Harry and Roger Charlton he has won his 2 latest starts at Sandown and Newbury with relative ease and looks very well treated on a mark of 95 with just 8-9 on his back. He has been a talking horse for this race since the markets were first formed, but it is hard to ignore his claims and he looks to have several pounds in hand which may well prove crucial, even in a big field.

Our other selection requires a greater leap of faith but the drop in trip for Epic Poet could prove to be the key. He was a smart horse in France and excelled on faster ground in the South at Marseille and Longchamp. Things haven’t worked out since he moved to the Meade yard, but he has been gelded since his last run and this represents a definite drop in class as well as distance. If he can return to the level of form he showed in France, he could be competitive on these terms, especially if the recent gelding operation has brought out some improvement.
