The key date is 11 June 2026.
The venue? The legendary Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Fun fact: The Azteca stadium will become the only one in history to host a World Cup opening match for a THIRD TIME (1970, 1986, 2026).

The ceremony is expected to kick off at around 18:00 (IST), shortly before the opening match. The central theme will be to celebrate the three host nations, with traditional Mexican dances and strong cultural elements from all three countries taking center stage.
The opening match will be Mexico vs South Africa, kicking off at 20:00 (IST).
The final, the halftime show and… history
The final will take place on 19 July at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which will be temporarily renamed New York New Jersey Stadium for the tournament.
This World Cup is set to make history as the final will feature a Halftime Show for the first time ever. Rumours are already building, with global superstars such as Shakira and Rihanna potentially involved.
The halftime show production will be led by Chris Martin in collaboration with Global Citizen.
