Leinster became the first-ever champions to retain their title last season and will head into the 26/27 campaign confident that they can repeat the feat. However, the teams around them have only grown stronger over the last year, and a host of squads will be circling the top four in what looks set to be a highly competitive season. Let’s look ahead at our best URC betting tips and predictions for the 2026/27 campaign.
URC Predictions: Winner – Leinster (13/10)
One of our best rugby predictions is for Leinster to retain the URC in 2026/27. A Leinster victory for a third year in a row would be unprecedented, but they have been untouchable in back-to-back seasons now. Leinster continue to boast one of the deepest squads in the competition. Their strength across the pack and backline gives them options throughout a long campaign. They also have considerable fortitude during knockout rugby and regularly compete against Europe’s strongest teams.
That experience could prove crucial when the pressure increases. Leinster have the quality to control games through their forwards before exploiting space out wide. Their depth should also help them manage injuries and international call-ups.
They will face serious competition from the South African sides and Glasgow Warriors. However, their overall squad depth makes Leinster one of the leading contenders for the 2026/27 title. They are priced at 13/10 to win the competition for anyone betting on the URC this season. They start the campaign as the favourites, and our URC predictions indicate they will do just that.
Blue Bulls – 7/2
The Blue Bulls are priced at 7/2 after finishing fourth in last season’s URC. They won 12 of their 18 league matches before reaching the Grand Final, where Leinster beat them 32-7. That result followed a strong playoff run and confirmed the Bulls remain among the competition’s leading sides.
Their 576 points were the second-highest total in the league, while their physical forwards created problems throughout the campaign. They will want to go one step further this season. The Bulls have a proven route into the latter stages and remain title contenders after another season of big-game experience. We see another strong and stable campaign by the South Africans, including a respectable second place in the league table.
Glasgow Warriors – 4/1
Glasgow Warriors are available at 4/1 after finishing top of last season’s URC table. They won 13 of their 18 league matches, scoring 479 points and conceding just 338. That form earned Glasgow home advantage in the playoffs. However, their campaign ended in the semi-finals against the Bulls.
The result will give Franco Smith’s side plenty to build on this season. They were also the regular season’s highest scorers, and have already demonstrated impressive consistency across the league. Glasgow has been fantastic to watch over the past few seasons. Another strong regular-season performance could again give them home advantage when the knockout stages arrive.
Stormers – 9/2
The Stormers are priced at 9/2 after finishing third in last season’s URC. They won 12 of their 18 matches, scoring 504 points and conceding 344. Their campaign ended in the semi-finals, but reaching that stage underlined their quality, and they gave Leinster an excellent game in Dublin. They also finished with a +160 points difference, highlighting consistency across the campaign. The Stormers will look to turn that form into a Grand Final appearance. Another strong regular season would give them a platform for a playoff run.
Munster – 12/1
Munster are available at 12/1 for anyone betting on rugby and could provide an interesting option at a higher price. The Irish province has the experience required to navigate a long URC campaign. Their forward pack remains an important part of their identity. Munster can build momentum through physical carries, set-piece pressure and strong defensive work. They will need greater consistency against the competition’s leading sides than they did last year, but home advantage during the playoffs could become extremely valuable. A strong start could give Munster the platform required for another serious postseason challenge.
Ulster Rugby – 16/1
Ulster are priced at 16/1 and sit among the leading outsiders for the title. The Belfast province has plenty of quality throughout their squad. Their challenge will be turning promising performances into consistent results. They will need to perform against the strongest Irish and South African opposition. Ulster can cause problems when their attacking players find space. Their defensive organisation will also need to remain strong during difficult away fixtures. At 16/1, they offer a significantly higher price than the leading contenders.
Sharks – 25/1
The Sharks are priced at 25/1 and could be one of the more interesting South African outsiders, boasting some of the highest-paid rugby players in the world. They have the physicality required to compete with the leading URC teams. Their forwards can create a strong platform, while their backs possess plenty of attacking ability. The Durban side will also benefit from home fixtures against travelling opponents. Consistency will be the major question. If the Sharks can avoid dropping points in winnable matches, they could move into playoff contention.
Lions – 33/1
The Lions are available at 33/1 and enter the market as another South African outsider. They have the physical attributes needed to cause problems for more fancied opponents and their attacking approach can make them dangerous when games become open. However, they will need greater consistency to challenge the teams above them, especially when playing away. The Lions won just twice in nine matches on the road last season. A strong run of results could put the Lions into the playoff picture, but they must improve against teams outside of the continent.
Connacht – 50/1
Connacht are priced at 50/1 and sit firmly among the competition’s outsiders. However, an excellent run of form in the second half of the season in 25/26 will have fans quietly optimistic. They won just two of their first nine and looked doomed to be the whipping boys of the league. However, they picked up eight victories in their following nine before losing to the Warriors in the playoffs. Connacht will need to turn competitive displays into victories against teams around them earlier this season, but there will be belief that they can pick up where they left off.
Edinburgh Rugby – 150/1
Edinburgh are available at 150/1 and face another difficult campaign. The Scottish side have enough quality to compete with individual opponents, but their challenge will be maintaining that level across the entire campaign. They only managed to string together back-to-back wins once last season. Strong home performances could help them remain competitive, but a playoff place would require a significant improvement on the road. At 150/1, our online sportsbook does not give the Scottish side much hope.
Cardiff Blues – 150/1
Cardiff Blues are also priced at 150/1 for the competition. The Welsh side will be hoping to establish greater consistency throughout the season. Their ability to collect points against fellow Welsh and Irish opposition could prove important. They will also need results against the leading sides to move into playoff contention. Cardiff have enough attacking quality to produce surprise results. However, a sustained challenge for the title would require an exceptional campaign.
Scarlets – 150/1
Scarlets finished 14th last season after winning just four of their 18 URC matches. Their 28 points left them well outside the playoff places, following a seventh-place finish the previous year. They also suffered 12 defeats and ended with a points difference of -99. There were occasional signs of quality, including a 35-35 draw with the Dragons in their final game. However, the Scarlets need a major improvement in consistency to challenge the stronger sides. Their 150/1 price reflects that difficult task, but a return to their 2024/25 level would make them more competitive.
Ospreys – 150/1
The Ospreys finished 11th last season with seven wins, two draws and nine defeats. That represented progress from their 14th-place finish in 2024/25, although they still missed the playoffs by eight points. They produced some encouraging results, including victories over the Sharks and Scarlets late in the campaign. However, heavy defeats against leading sides showed the gap they still need to close. Ospreys now have a platform to build on rather than starting from scratch. At 150/1, another improvement could make them competitive, but reaching the playoffs would require a significant step forward.
Newport Gwent Dragons – 500/1
The Dragons finished 15th last season, winning three of their 18 URC matches. They also recorded four draws, showing they were able to compete without consistently turning performances into victories. Defence was a major concern, with the Dragons conceding 481 points across the campaign. Their season ended with a 35-35 draw against Scarlets, underlining their ability to score points while struggling to close games out. The Dragons now need greater defensive solidity and consistency. Their 500/1 price reflects the scale of that challenge, with a dramatic improvement required to move into playoff contention.
Zebre – 500/1
Zebre finished bottom of the URC last season after winning only two of their 18 matches. Their points difference of -275 highlighted the problems they faced, with 587 points conceded across the campaign. Finishing 13 points behind the Dragons also demonstrates the size of the gap they must close. Zebre’s development-focused approach can produce promising players, but results need to improve quickly. Their 500/1 price is a touch optimistic given historical performances.

However, they turned things around and won eight of their next nine games. That late-season form suggests Connacht are capable of competing with the stronger sides. They now need to produce that level earlier in the campaign. At 50/1 for the title, the playoffs could be a more realistic target for the Irish province.
Glasgow Warriors to reach the Grand Final
Glasgow Warriors finished top of the regular-season table last year, winning 13 of their 18 matches. They also scored an enormous 479 points while conceding only 338, giving them the competition’s best defensive record. Their campaign ultimately ended against the Bulls in the semi-finals, but that defeat should provide extra motivation this season. Glasgow have already demonstrated they can perform consistently across the regular season against all opposition. They also have recent experience of winning the URC, giving them valuable knowledge of what is required. Backing them to reach the Grand Final could offer an interesting alternative to the outright market.
Blue Bulls to finish in the top four
The Blue Bulls reached last season’s Grand Final after finishing fourth during the regular season. They won 12 of their 18 matches and scored 576 points, showing their success was not simply built around their playoff performances. Leinster eventually beat them 36-7 in the final, but reaching that stage demonstrated the Bulls’ ability to handle pressure. Their physical style also makes them suited to the knockout stages. With another season of experience behind them, finishing inside the top four looks like a realistic target. Their 7/2 outright price also shows how highly the market rates them.
