They want to get their season back on track after leaving another title behind them.

The return of Paddy Durcan will be a bonus for the Westerners because he brings charisma and defensive nous. It will be a challenge for Cavan to break down the Mayo backline. Meanwhile, Mayo entered this game off a chastening loss against Galway. They wasted an opportunity to seize another Connacht crown in a two-point defeat. Mayo trailed by eight points at half-time as they left themselves with too much to do. They did come roaring back and showed great heart to draw level with a Ryan O’Donoghue masterclass. Ultimately, Galway exploited a late Rory Brickenden black card to win the match.

The Red Hands enjoyed a 13-point lead at one stage of the game. However, Cavan mounted a comeback with a blitz of two-pointers as they showed their heart and grit.
