Teams do not need to be consistently at the top to qualify for the competition. Instead, they can enter by winning an international cup final in the past four years. Chelsea secured entry to the Club World Cup after winning the Champions League in 2020/21. Manchester City and Real Madrid also automatically qualified, having won the two most recent Champions League Finals.
