Premier League Darts Night 2 Preview

Premier League Darts Night 2 heads to Glasgow tonight following an exciting opening event in Belfast last week. Michael van Gerwen fought hard in thrilling 6-5 quarter and semi-finals against the world’s top two players. However, it was world number one Luke Humphries who claimed the victory for the night, dominating Chris Dobey 6-1 in the final.

The quarter-final matchups in Glasgow promise more thrilling action. The night kicks off at 7:10 pm with reigning world champion Luke Littler facing Rob Cross. Michael van Gerwen will take on fan favorite Stephen Bunting in a rematch of their World Championship semi-final. Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price, both coming off losses, will battle to earn crucial points. Chris Dobey seeks revenge against Luke Humphries after falling short in last week’s final. Keep reading for our Premier League Darts Night 2 predictions, tips, and our pick for the Night winner.

Premier League Darts Night 2 Predictions and Betting Tips

We have an exciting night of fixtures to look forward to on Thursday. Below is our list of predictions and betting tips for the Darts Premier League quarter-finals. You can use our predictions to make successful darts bets this week.

Night 2: Rob Cross vs Luke Littler – 19:10

Correct score prediction: Rob Cross 3-6 Luke Littler (Bet on Littler at 18/5)

Rob Cross has struggled for consistency in majors in the last year but has performed strongly in European Tour and World Series events. That inconsistency was on show on Night 1. He spoiled Stephen Bunting’s night in the Quarter-Final, winning with an excellent 54.55% doubles rate. However, he could not follow it up with a poor 28.57% success rate on checkouts against Chris Dobey.

Luke Littler has been a thorn in the side of Rob Cross since he burst onto the scene in 2023. Voltage was the first big-name Littler defeated during his incredible run to the World Championship final in 2024. The Nuke has won six of their eight meetings since then, a run that includes victories in the Belgian Darts Open final, Poland Darts Masters final and the final of two Premier League nights last year. However, the World Champion lost on opening night against Michael van Gerwen in what will go down as an all-time classic.

Luke Littler has got the better of Cross more often than not and can take advantage of his inconsistencies. We think the Nuke will get his Premier League defence up and running in Glasgow. Our darts prediction is for Littler to bounce back on Night 2.

Betting Tip: Littler smashed in six 180s last week and hit the highest checkout in his match with MVG at 161. Cross hit just one max in his first game and three in his second. We like a treble bet on Littler to hit more 180s, achieve the highest checkout, and win the match. This market is worth 11/8 for anyone betting on Premier League Darts.

Night 2: Michael van Gerwen vs Stephen Bunting – 19:40

Correct score prediction: Michael van Gerwen 6-4 Stephen Bunting (Bet on van Gerwen 11/2)

Stephen Bunting has captured the hearts of darts fans everywhere and backed that up with some superb performances on the stage. Bullet won his first-ever televised PDC major last year when he secured the Masters before reaching the Semi-Final of the World Championships later on. Interestingly, he defeated MVG in the Masters final but was whitewashed by him in the Worlds. He took home the Bahrain Darts Masters to kick off the year but lost to Rob Cross on Night 1 despite entering as the favourite.

Michael van Gerwen has looked nearly back to his best in recent months. He reached the World Championship final before losing to a formidable Luke Littler in December but defeated the world number two on Night 1. He was unlucky to lose the semi-final against Luke Humphries, falling to a 6-5 scoreline with a 101 average. This looks like a much more determined and confident Mighty Mike after he went another year without a major, battling several health issues along the way. His performance against the World Champion last week may have put everyone in the Premier League on notice.

Things have typically been tight between MVG and Bunting, with both men sharing two wins from their last four meetings. However, with van Gerwen looking the best he has in over a year, we think the Dutchman can find a win here.

Betting Tip: Michael van Gerwen defeated Littler in a classic last week, hitting six 180s in the process. Bunting has been one of the best max-hitters on the tour over the year, but we are starting to see a version of Mike that we have not seen in a while. We like a bet on MVG to hit the most 180s in the match, worth 13/10 with our online bookmaker.

Night 2: Nathan Aspinall vs Gerwyn Price – 20:10

Correct score prediction: Nathan Aspinall 3-6 Gerwyn Price (Bet on Price at 5/1)

Both of these men struggled throughout 2024. Nathan Aspinall has spoken openly about his struggle with dartitis and several health issues that saw him pull out of competitions last year and require surgery. As such, his inclusion in the Premier League was controversial, and he faced an unenviable challenge against world number one Luke Humphries on Night 1. The 33-year-old was poor, losing 6-2 and finishing with a 20% checkout rate.

Gerwyn Price had similar issues last year, pulling out of several competitions because of health issues. However, the former world champion looked to be playing his best darts of the year when reaching the quarter-finals of the World Championships in December. Some strong performances in European Tour and World Series events have followed. He lost to Chris Dobey on Night 1 despite a good performance and can bounce back here.

This is the only match of the night that pits together two of the losing players from Night 1. Both have something to prove here, but Aspinall’s problems looked far from being behind him last week. We are backing Price to come out with his first win.

Betting Tip: Gerwyn Price played relatively well despite losing last week, finishing 44.44% on checkouts. Aspinall finished with just 20% and his dartitis was affecting his scoring. Price can finish him off quickly and we like a bet on under 9.5 legs in the game, worth 5/6 for anyone betting on darts.

Night 2: Luke Humphries vs Chris Dobey – 20:40

Correct score prediction: Luke Humphries 6-3 Chris Dobey (Bet on Humphries at 4/1)

Chris Dobey was another controversial addition to the Premier League this year. Hollywood was left out in 2024 after finishing second from bottom the year prior. However, strong performances on the floor, including three PC Wins, and a run to the Semi-Final at the worlds earned him a spot. He proved his worth on Night 1, making it to the final after defeating Price and Cross. Dobey lost in the last game 6-1 to none other than Luke Humphries.

Humphries has been consistently outstanding since winning the World Grand Prix in 2023. His lead as world number one in the Order of Merit is incredible and Cool Hand Luke has reached at least the final in all but two PDC Premier Events. Consistency is key in Premier League Darts and that may as well be Luke Humphries’ middle name.

Humphries stormed through Aspinall in the quarter-final last week, put on a classic against MVG and then trounced Dobey in the Final. Dobey played excellently in his own right, but that loss in the final was decisive. Humphries will make it two from two against the Geordie in Glasgow.

Betting Tip: Luke Humphries gave up three sets between the quarter-final and final last week, keeping Dobey to just one. His doubles were at an astounding 85% against Hollywood and Dobey barely had time to breathe. We like a bet on under 9.5 legs in the game, worth 4/7 with our online betting site.

Premier League Darts Night 2 Tips

  • Littler vs Cross: Littler Match Treble
  • van Gerwen vs Bunting: van Gerwen Most 180s
  • Aspinall vs Price: Under 9.5 Legs
  • Humphries vs Dobey: Under 9.5 Legs
  • Accumulator Price: 14.74/1

Premier League Darts Night 2 Winner

Night 2 Winner Prediction: Michael van Gerwen

To say Michael van Gerwen had a rough run last week would be an understatement. The three-time World Champion faced the world number two and reigning world champion in the quarter-finals, a match he won against the odds. He narrowly lost to the world number one in the semi-final despite having a better average. Nevertheless, the Dutchman looks more like one of the best darts players of all time again. He is playing the best darts we have seen from him in a while. He could face them both again in Night 2, but will at least avoid them in the opener. MVG has proven he has what it takes to beat the pair. We like a bet on van Gerwen to win Night 2, worth 13/2.
