Spain national team Head coach, Luis de la Fuente, has just announced the final squad of “La Roja” for the 2026 World Cup that will take place in a few weeks’ time. One of the biggest talking points is that, for the first time ever, no Real Madrid player has been included in a Spain World Cup squad. Highly rated defender Dean Huijsen was also left out of the final call-up. Spain will now aim to win their second World Cup title, and their first since 2010, in what would mark a historic achievement for the national team.

Novibet Blog has you covered for the news, historical data and the updates of the 2026 World Cup. Find out the full schedule and the stadiums of the tournament.

Coach

Luis de La Fuente has been in charge of Spain since after the 2022 World Cup and has already lead the team to glory with their Euro 2024 triumph. The 64-year-old coach aims at the World Cup with a blend of experienced players (as Laporte, Rodri an Fabian Ruiz) and young guns eager to make the world headlines leaded by Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams and Pedri.

Major Absences / Surprises

There have been some names that have been surprisingly left out of the final squad. The most notable omission is Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen. Barcelona midfielder Fermin was included in recent call-ups but failed to make the final cut due to injury. Former captain of Spain’s Euro 2024-winning squad, Alvaro Morata, paid the price for the poor season he has suffered and will not be making the trip to the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
