Belal Muhammad vs Ian Machado Garry Predictions

Fight prediction: Garry via decision.

One of our best MMA predictions this week is for Ian Machado Garry to defeat Belal Muhammad in Qatar. Garry’s movement and distance management will be key weapons once again. He is one of the cleanest outside strikers in the division, using long straight shots, quick exits, and constant angle changes to keep opponents from settling. Muhammad is durable, experienced, and disciplined, but he can be vulnerable when he’s forced to close range repeatedly. Garry’s accuracy, output and speed will help him topple the former champion.

Garry has been excellent in the UFC, with his sole defeat coming at the hands of current welterweight title contender Shavkat Rakhmonov. Garry showed his mettle in that fight despite the defeat. The undefeated Rakhmonov had won all of his previous 18 career fights via knockout or submission. Garry ‌dragged Rakhmonov through five brutal rounds, even winning two on paper. He proved he could hang with the best in that fight and still has time for progression. Garry also proved he could deal with ground technicians and strong wrestlers, stuffing eight of Rakhmonov’s 10 takedown attempts.

Muhammad’s game plan here will be to take the Irishman to the mat and hold him there. That will not be easy. He needs to turn this into a grind, walk Garry down, force clinches against the fence, and look for mat returns whenever the Irishman scrambles free. He’s not the most explosive wrestler, but his persistence breaks opponents mentally. Muhammad thrives in long, attritional fights where he accumulates control time and slowly drains confidence. If he can smother Garry early and make the young contender carry his weight, he could swing the momentum in the later rounds.

Garry has shown he can handle this kind of approach. His defensive footwork has improved dramatically over the past two years, and the Rakhmanov fight proved he can remain composed under adversity and fire back with purpose. He throws the cleaner, more accurate combinations. That efficiency should separate them. Garry’s jab, in particular, could be a major factor. He snaps it out quickly, disrupting entries and forcing opponents to reset before they can chain their attacks together. His kicks will also help slow Muhammad’s forward pressure and create the kind of fight that suits him: a technical, measured battle fought in open space.

The Future’s fight IQ is improving every time he steps in the Octagon. He met finishing machine Carlos Prates last time out. His balance of controlled output with aggression and ability to get in and out of the pocket against a fighter as dangerous as Prates was excellent. He was more active and accurate than the Brazilian throughout the fight. Garry will have the reach advantage here, and that quickness in and out of the pocket that he showed against Prates will be vital in staying out of Muhammad’s grappling range.

Expect Muhammad to have moments, especially in the clinch and during prolonged pressure sequences. He’s too seasoned not to. But Garry’s ability to dictate where the exchanges take place, combined with his precision on the feet and improved takedown defence, gives him a tactical edge. This likely won’t be a runaway fight, but Garry’s cleaner work, sharper timing, and superior striking variety should be enough to earn him the nod on the scorecards.

Belal Muhammad vs Ian Machado Garry Betting Tips

  • Method of Victory – Garry via decision/technical decision: Neither fighter is a particularly heavy hitter, nor are they submission specialists. They also boast strong chins. Only two of Muhammad’s last 17 fights have finished inside the distance, and all of Garry’s last five bouts have gone to decisions. This fight will go all five rounds with Garry winning on the scorecards. The Irish fighter is the favourite, and at 4/5, this is the best way to bet on Garry.
  • Takedowns – Belal Muhammad under 2.5 takedowns: The takedown markets are a smart angle if you are betting on the over/under. Ian Garry’s takedown defence has been excellent in recent fights, and his grappling game has come on in leaps and bounds. Muhammad is a strong positional wrestler, but he’s not a relentless shot-for-shot takedown artist. He typically needs extended sequences against the cage to secure his entries. Garry’s length, footwork, and ability to break grips should make each attempt far more difficult. Take Muhammad’s under on takedowns if you are betting on MMA.
  • Live Betting – Garry decision late: If you’re following the live betting, look for a potential value boost on Garry by decision after the first round. Muhammad often starts fast, pressing forward and tying opponents up early. Garry, on the other hand, tends to settle in as the fight progresses, finding his rhythm and timing. If Muhammad has early success with cage control or clinch pressure, the live markets may briefly tighten. That’s an ideal moment to back Garry to pull away across the last two rounds at our online bookmaker. His movement, accuracy, and defensive awareness usually shine once he gets the measure of his opponent.
